Launch your drone operations career with the Bachelor of Aviation (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems). An increasingly valuable qualification across many established and emerging industries, the Bachelor of Aviation (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) is one of the first university courses of its kind. Taught by UNSW’s globally-recognised School of Aviation, you’ll gain the technical expertise and practical skills to operate remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) for a wide range of applications. This degree not only educates and trains remote pilots to the highest commercial standards, it also develops future industry leaders and managers. Through 20 hours of certified flight training, you’ll master multi-rotor and fixed-wing equipment, with experience in night flying and beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations. Building on your RePL, you’ll graduate with qualifications for heavy lift (up to 150kg) multirotor, fixed-wing and vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) systems. In 2025, the anticipated standard cost of 40 hours of drone flight training for the Remote Pilot Licence and Commercial Experience component is $19,438. Students will be notified of their drone flight training costs in the year they commence their degree.
